Research for Civil Lawsuits

At Acclaim Investigations, we’re more than “cops and robbers.” We’re about innovative research that often opens up a lawsuit that at first promised only a meager yield.

An example: recently, one of the attorneys for whom we work filed a lawsuit against a major railroad. The attorney’s client had been hit by a train at an unguarded crossing. It was clear that sight lines were inadequate, but the distribution center blocking the sight lines had been approved by municipal authorities many years before. The attorney needed a defendant other than the railroad if there was to be a good chance for a settlement adequate to compensate his client, who was severely injured in the accident.

Our investigation showed that the line-of-sight problem was exacerbated by truck-trailers parked by the distribution center on public streets near the railroad crossing. The distribution center was running at over capacity, and therefore they were parking empty trailers on public streets. The lawyer we were helping was able to add the center to the lawsuit and considerably deepen defendants’ pockets.

Because of our extensive experience in rooting out the hidden treasure, and because we have decades of relationships with the keepers of the records, we often are able to solve puzzles that elude less experienced detectives.
